Poetry Book Captures Life in the 21st Century

How the Petals Shiver

How the Petals Shiver

Jamie Martin's "How the Petals Shiver" conveys modern aspirations and conundrums

VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA, September 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The 21st century has only just begun and humanity has already made much progress. The era offers seemingly boundless opportunities but at the same time, it has no shortage of challenges. This paradox and both the ambition and anxieties stemming from this has compelled author Jamie Martin to pen a collection of poems. "How the Petals Shiver" simultaneously asks big philosophical questions and delves into the inner recesses of the human heart and mind, exploring both global issues and intimate concerns.

Love, religion, philosophy, hope, yearning – Martin explores these with his poetic response to life in the 21st century. While the world has changed a lot, religion and philosophy remain as relevant as ever. People still search for meaning, just as the philosophers of yore did in their time. The world is now connected to the point where individuals from across the globe can start relationships, yet at the same time finding romance is still a matter of chance – and discovering true love is as elusive as it always has been.

It is a contradictory time. People seek meaning, love, connection, relevance. Yet the world is in peril, its finite resources are dwindling, and saving the planet is the great test of the century. Martin asks his readers to consider these profound matters that affect both the world and their own lives, for they will encounter these issues in their own journeys, and so too will their children – and their children's children. So by caring for the Earth, people are in effect caring for their children and securing their futures.

"How the Petals Shiver" instills a message of hope and provides an uplifting reading experience, delivering its message through wit while eschewing sarcasm, which Martin considers to be the lowest form of wit. This is not a cynical or bleak work but a balm for the soul, realistic while being nourishing for the spirit. Ultimately it is a book about love, for in people's love for each other lies the foundation of loving the Earth, caring for it and ultimately helping it and all life in it.

Delilah Pierce Collection Joins DelArt’s Percy Ricks Exhibition To Increase Awareness Of Black Art

Delaware Art Museum (DelArt) includes two Delilah Pierce Collection Pieces in Afro-American Images 1971: The Vision of Percy Ricks.

Education for “Our way of life” in “our times”; education for “all the people” that our way of life might be maintained; this we hear and say ever so often and, as Americans, firmly believe.”

— Delilah W. Pierce

MONROVIA, MARYLAND, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — Delaware Art Museum (DelArt) includes two Delilah W. Pierce Collection pieces in Afro-American Images 1971: The Vision of Percy Ricks. The historic exhibit will run in Wilmington from October 23, 2021 to January 23, 2022. Ms. Margaret Winslow, Curator of Contemporary Art at DelArt collaborated with Great Niece Wanda L. Spence to ensure Ms. Pierces inclusion.

The two Pierce collection pieces joining the exhibition are Delilah Pierce’s Tradesman – Africa and a sculpture from William Taylor entitled, “Torso”, 1960 Wood and Stone.

Mediel W. Spence (Niece):

“I am so thankful to Ms. Winslow and her team for working with Wanda and my family to include our dear aunt in their exhibition. Our family and the DelArt family share the same goal of elevating and promoting historic Black art figures. It so happens that one of those figures is a family member. As with many art legacy families around the country, we couldn’t do it without partners like DelArt and Ms. Winslow.”

The Delilah W. Pierce Collection would like to invite all friends in the Mid-Atlantic region including those from the University of Pennsylvania. Both Ms. Pierce and her husband Joseph are graduates of the Ivy League institution.

Stephen R. McDow II (Great Nephew):

“We are very proud of our connection to PENN as a family. The next generation of our family is either at PENN or gearing up to apply to PENN. We hope we are making Aunt Delilah and Uncle Joe proud. I guess we are building a legacy at our nation’s first university. Please Harvard don’t get me for that!”

Delilah's family firmly believes in education and is reminded of its importance in Ms. Pierce's 1952 written composition: The Significance Of Art Experiences In The Education of The Negro.

"Her words apply to African Americans, Whites, Hispanics, Indians – ALL PEOPLE! Her words are also perfect as we educate the world about black art with our partners at DelArt," says Wanda L. Spence (Great Nice).

Delilah Pierce (1952):

"Education for “Our way of life” in “our times”; education for “all the people” that our way of life might be maintained; this we hear and say ever so often and, as Americans, firmly believe. We believe that our security, progress and happiness as a democratic society rests on happy, balanced individuals who are self-supporting and enlightened…"

This is a MUST see exhibition!

AMERICAN BLONDE Launches With Charismatic Southern Rock-Inspired “Quicksand”

American Blonde “Quicksand”

Duo’s Debut Country Radio Single Premiered On Taste Of Country

You can take it strictly as a story about fighting to save a relationship – or you can take a deeper look and compare it to the state of our country right now.”

— Tinka Morris, American Blonde

NASHVILLE, TN, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — AMERICAN BLONDE makes their Country radio debut with the hooky, Southern Rock-inspired anthem, “Quicksand.” Taste Of Country premiered the single, and fans can stream/download now from iTunes, Apple Music, Amazon and Spotify. Radio can access the track via Play MPE and All Access.

With its addictive groove and accessible message, “Quicksand” deceives with a sparse and simple intro – and then rips the roof off with razor sharp guitar riffs and pounding percussion. The sisters’ vocals are adept – and pushed a bit forward in the mix – adding to the song’s powerful sense of urgency. “It’s all about fighting for what you want and not letting go,” reflects Nata Morris, American Blonde’s lead guitarist and principal vocalist/songwriter. “Love isn’t always easy. It takes work and sacrifice and determination to stick it out.”

‘Cause we’re living in a wasteland
Losing everything we had
We were on solid ground
But that ain’t how it feels right now
It’s like we’re standing in
Quicksand (N.Morris / J.Nash)

Produced by Cliff Downs, the song was written by Nata and frequent collaborator Jimmy Nash. For Nash ("More Than Crazy" Jane By Design, "We Are Made Of Stars" Teen Mom 2), the comparison between love and natural disasters is … natural. “It just felt like a perfect analogy for trying to make a relationship work through tough times,” he reflects. “And I think a lot of people will relate.”

Tinka Morris, the duo’s drummer and alternate vocalist, believes it’s a tune that will resonate with their audiences. “I love this song,” she admits. “You can take it strictly as a story about fighting to save a relationship – or you can take a deeper look and compare it to the state of our country right now. I am so proud of Nata and Jimmy for writing this song. And I loved letting loose and improvising on my vocals,” she adds.

Fans are likely to fall quickly in thrall to the charismatic vibe of "Quicksand." The track is already making an impression, as Eric Dahl of American Songwriter reflects, “It sucks you in with sweet sibling harmonies and the organic instrumentation supporting the lyrics.” Markos Papadatos of Digital Journal predicts the duo will “lure their listeners in from the first verse."

It's a safe bet that American Blonde is on solid footing with the release of “Quicksand.”

Fans can learn more about American Blonde through their website and socials: https://www.americanblondemusic.com/

The duo is comprised of principal songwriter/guitarist Nata and drummer Tinka Morris. A powerhouse of talent, the sisters’ music is raw – a testament to the Delta roots that nurtured them. The extensive live music scene around their Cleveland, Mississippi hometown drew them like magnets to festivals, fairs and fish fries where music was front and center, and the sounds of The Eagles, B.B. King, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers, Elvis, Stevie Nicks and more echoed throughout their home. Entertainers since their pre-teen years, the siblings have literally lived their lives in the spotlight – and loved every minute of it. Their determination and talent earned them a slot competing in the 2014 Texaco Country Showdown, which led to the release of their first EP (produced by Alabama’s Jeff Cook). Two well-received CDs, released in 2015 and 2018 (produced by hit songwriters Gerald O’ Brien and Catt Gravitt), followed. They landed three Top 25 hits on the MusicRow Chart with “Anything Is Possible,” “I Think Too Much” and “Don’t Let Another Day Go By.” They’ve toured throughout the U.S. and the U.K., sharing the stage with diverse acts, including Maren Morris, Old Dominion, Brantley Gilbert, Easton Corbin, B.B. King, and others. Their high-energy stage shows have earned them spots at CMA Fest, Bluebird Café, The GRAMMY Museum® Mississippi, and The GRAMMY Museum® Los Angeles, among other high-profile venues. The Morris sisters call Nashville home.

Susan Shirley of Global View Leadership to be Featured on Close Up Radio

NEW YORK, NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — The events of the past 18 months highlight the interconnectedness of the global economy. Businesses headquartered all over the world operate internationally every day and business leaders need to manage themselves and their teams with cultural competence. Without cultural understanding, teams are less effective, communication takes longer, and more mistakes are made. That’s why turning to a highly qualified experienced Executive Coach to help you navigate these complexities can be the optimal solution to help global businesses embrace the cultural diversity required for a truly global enterprise.

Susan Shirley is an International Coach Federation Associate Certified Coach and Founder and President of Global View Leadership, a coaching and training practice focused on cross-cultural leadership development.

Susan coaches leaders and teams to help them communicate effectively and confidently together and to recognize communication barriers. Teams are most effective when every member of the team is working toward shared goals, understands their place in reaching them, and is comfortable enough to engage in open dialogue about how to get there. Establishing trust and engaging in conflict may look very different to team members from different cultures, and both trust and constructive conflict are essential for building strong teams. Leaders must examine their own cultural and personal preferences and explicitly look for ways they may need to adapt to make sure all team members are included and valued. Coaching is uniquely effective in helping leaders when different cultures, backgrounds and environments require an individual approach.

“Most of my clients work in environments where they are outside their culture – either working outside their home country or working in an international company where the organizational culture is different from the local culture. I help them work together to design a team culture that works for them.”

Susan began her career in international development in Egypt. After several years working in international project management, she pivoted to training and professional development, which led her to cross-cultural leadership coaching. Recognizing that the way we conduct business in our home country does not necessarily work well in other environments and that companies miss opportunities to draw on valuable staff based in their field offices, this became the major focus of her work. A globetrotter who has traveled to over fifty countries and lived in seven, what she does is help leaders build successful organizations through effective cross-cultural communication.

Susan feels fortunate that she can draw on her own personal life experiences as she partners with clients from all over the world to design the tools they need to create cohesive multicultural teams.

“I partner with my clients to design the tools necessary to be an effective part of a multicultural team. I’m committed to making sure cultural differences are never what keeps someone from success.”

Close Up Radio will feature Susan Shirley in an interview with Jim Masters on Tuesday September 21st at 10 a.m. EST.

Judy Cirullo of Grow Strong Teams to be Featured on Close Up Radio

SCOTTSDALE, ARIZONA, UNITED STATES, September 17, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ — People are an organization’s most important asset. Coaching can help team members be more agile and versatile. But when it comes to healthcare, coaching becomes a whole different ball game.

Healthcare practitioners are trained to work independently, think independently and make decisions independently.

How do you develop teams to be unified and interact in a way that supports culture while handling the day-to-day challenges?

Coach Judy Cirullo is the founder of Grow Strong Teams.

Grow Strong Teams is dedicated to helping healthcare leaders and their teams develop sustainable culture for lasting teams.

“Trust is the basic foundation for a functional team,” says Judy. You build trust through relationships, connection, listening to understand, sharing perspective, telling the truth, authenticity.”

Unfortunately, healthcare leaders inadvertently contribute to the daily stress their people experience. This can lead to distrust and thus impeding the connections and relationships that support the collaborative effort critical to the success of many healthcare teams.

As a seasoned clinician, Judy’s sweet spot is helping healthcare leaders build cohesive teams. Prior to launching Grow Strong Teams, Judy had been a physical therapist for 40 years, owning and operating four practices in four states. She sold her last practice in 2018 to pursue professional coaching full time and hasn’t looked back.

“I was frustrated watching my colleagues continue to struggle with building cohesive teams,” says Judy. “I wanted to take my experience with people and teams, my passion for helping others and help them navigate through daily challenges. Once they are able to see the opportunities and the path forward the stress and frustration reduces and the foundational element, trust begins to gain speed.

Cohesive, connected, high-performing teams are no accident. Effective teams are created and nurtured to be that way. That’s why sharing conversations that matter is essential. Judy teaches her clients how to reframe, refocus and redirect conversations to help people grow and solve problems.

“In healthcare, people are caring, giving, compassionate. These are marvelous qualities, but they can lead to burnout,” warns Judy. “When people understand their purpose, how they're unique and what people gain when they share it, it changes the dynamics of everything.”

Close Up Radio will feature Judy Cirullo in an interview with Jim Masters on September 21st at 2pm EDT and with Doug Llewelyn on September 28th at 3pm EDT
